Russia said that it is developing its military system taking into account the possibility of a deteriorating international situation, noting that the deployment of American tanks and heavy equipment in Poland threatens its security.
Dmitry Rogozin, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, stressed on Thursday that his country's combat experience in Syria makes it necessary to quickly move to the high-precision weapons industry.
"We have finalized a new strategy for developing the space industry, and we will work within the framework of a new weapons program as of 2018," TASS news agency quoted him as saying.
In this context, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoyogo said that future high-precision weapons could replace nuclear weapons as a deterrent.
He added that the fighting capabilities of the traditional strategic forces in Russia will increase by 2021, four times.
Shoigu said in a lecture to senior officials in his ministry on Thursday that the role of deterrence has changed strongly over time, from the nuclear program to the nuclear program outside the field, which will reduce international tension and enhance confidence-building measures.
However, the minister stressed that the development of strategic nuclear power remains one of the indisputable priorities of the Ministry of Defense.
The Kremlin also considered that the deployment of tanks and heavy equipment in the United States, according to neighboring Poland, threatened Russia's security.
The Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin clearly expressed his willingness to respect the United States, but on the basis of mutual respect, adding that it should be further strengthened by the arrival of President-elect Donald Trump to the seat of power .
